Christmas Gift Tag Craft Project

On Sunday, October 28th, we will be starting our Christmas Gift Tag Craft Project turning the many lovely greeting cards everyone donated into beautiful gift tags. We will then be selling the tags to raise funds for the Southern Poverty Law Center, the non-profit organization that Jay Harper brought to our attention. If you would like to be part of this fun project, bring a sharp pair of scissors, and join us immediately after the 8:30 service or during 10:00 hospitality time. Hope to see you there!

UTO Offering

Our annual in-gathering collection for the United Thank Offering totaled $992. Thank you for your generous support of this outreach by the Episcopal Church Women. Special thanks to Jo Parker who coordinates this collection for us every year.

The United Thank Offering is a personal and family devotional program of The Episcopal Church. It has centered around the UTO Blue Box, an offering box that Episcopalians keep within their home and as they recall God’s blessings in their lives, they make a monetary donation to the box. The practice is meant to deepen our life in Christ by daily prayers and gifts of thanksgiving. These gifts of thanksgiving – coins and bills dropped in the UTO Blue Box – from each man, woman, and child are combined with others at parish and diocesan celebrations and finally within all of The Episcopal Church.

This year, the UTO Board received 68 grant applications and was able to fund 34 grants, totaling $1,257,778 for the mission and ministry of the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion. These grants continue to support and strengthen the mission and ministry of the Church throughout the world. Every penny of the Offerings is allocated each year for grants.

“Unity in Our Community” Block Party

Once again we will be participating in the “Unity in Our Community” Block Party on Sunday, August 18th, 2018 from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM on Highland Avenue in Wayne. We will again provide a table for arts and crafts and games. In our effort to develop relationships with the Highland Avenue community, we will be asking our members to assist with hosting this table throughout the day.

Parish Meeting, Sunday June 3rd

On Sunday, June 3, 2018, we will have one service at 9:30 am followed by a parish meeting. The worship service will be the last one for the choir before summer. We will be honoring the Choral Scholars who will be leaving the choir at the end of the season. How blessed we have been by their talent and commitment!

The focus of our parish meeting will be a six-month review of our Holy Covenant and to address any concerns you may have about our relationship with St Martin's. Members of our Vestry will also be present to bring you up-to-date about the work we have been doing together, discerning our purpose and how we can better live as Christ's Body in the community and our world.

Please mark your calendars and plan to join us. Our Vestry strives to be transparent with our membership and they want to hear from you. Before we dive into summer, this meeting is a great opportunity to be together. Please come.

Pentecost Worship and Picnic

We will be observing the great Feast of Pentecost with our friends from St. Martin’s Church as we gather in Veterans Park on Lancaster Ave., next to Bryn Mawr Trust at 10:00 AM for worship and a picnic. This is a perfect event to invite a friend to join us.

If you are planning to attend, please sign up on the easel at the entrance of the church and indicate the number of attendees. We would like a good count to plan for food. Christ Church Ithan is responsible for bringing salads and sides. As you sign up, please indicate what you would like to bring.

This is a casual event. We encourage you to bring your own chair or blanket.  Parking is available at Bryn Mawr Trust adjacent to the park.

In the event of inclement weather, we will celebrate this feast in Ithan Hall at Christ Church Ithan.

Easter Flowers

Easter Flower Arrangement Preparations – On Saturday, March 31st, we will be creating the flower arrangements for the church windows and the narthex from 10:00 a.m. in the basement of the church and we will be moving the flower arrangements and the other flowers into the church, expecting to be completed by 11:30 a.m.  We need about 4-6 people.  If you can help, please contact Jacqui North at jacqui.north@verizon.net or 484-582-1212.  It’s a great time for fellowship, and everyone is welcome!

A pancake breakfast will be offered after the service, followed by the Annual Meeting. Please join us for this important yearly event in our church’s life. We have much to share and celebrate!

Bible Study

Are you interested in a fresh approach to studying the Gospel texts? Would you like to rediscover Jesus and have the Gospels come alive in a new way for you? We will be launching a new Bible Study experience with St. Martin’s in the New Year on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. This particular approach to Gospel study is being done in other parts of the Diocese. You can learn more at https://approachingthegospelstogether.com

Christmas Giving

We have partnered with Pastor Howard of St. John’s A.M.E. Church and the Ardmore Food Pantry to provide Christmas gifts for some needy families. You can participate in this Christmas Giving project in two ways. On our tree at the entrance of the church, you will find some tags with gift requests. Please take a tag or two and purchase the gift and wrap it and place the tag on the gift so it can be identified. Bring your gift to the church or to the church office by Tuesday, Dec 19, or if you would rather not shop, kindly place an offering in the jar provided at the front of church and gifts will be purchased to fulfill the requests we have received.
